Toward a future without blindness.

About Horizon

Horizon is an independent foundation launched in 2022 to support cutting-edge research into Usher Syndrome and Retinitis Pigmentosa.

Our mission : to create projects that bring people together, raise funds, and support medical research to help find a cure.

USHER SYNDROME

Rare genetic inherited condition that affects both hearing and sight. Children are born with hearing loss or deafness, and the condition also causes Retinitis Pigmentosa : a degenerative eye disease that leads to gradual vision loss and, ultimately, blindness.

Founder & CEO of Horizon Usher Foundation
Living with Retinitis Pigmentosa

More than a foundation, Horizon is a movement born from a personal vision.
We believe awareness can shift mindsets, and creativity can spark progress.
Through art, science and public voice, we aim to bring light to the lives of those living with RP and Usher Syndrome.

The foundation began after Benjamin launched the first Horizon Project : a symbolic Atlantic Ocean crossing, sponsored by Giorgio Armani; a bold step that turned his personal diagnosis into a public statement.

Since then, Horizon has grown from a daring Atlantic crossing into a movement. What began as Benjamin’s personal journey has become a story of visibility, hope, and collective effort for everyone affected by Usher Syndrome and Retinitis Pigmentosa.

About Us

Usher syndrome affects about 1 in 30.000 people.
It is the leading cause of combined vision and hearing loss worldwide.
